塑料用荧光增白剂有哪些性质

  一、塑料用荧光增白剂应具备的性质荧光增白剂是一种荧光染料,也有资料称其为白色染料或无色染料,还有的资料根据其在塑料中主要用来改变塑料外观特性这一特点,称其为塑料着色特效颜料。市售的荧光增白剂主要有两类:一类与普通的水溶性染料类似,广泛用于纺织品;另一类不溶于水,但溶于有机溶剂,这类荧光增白剂适合于塑料。但要用于塑料增白,根据塑料的性能、加工特点和使用时的特殊要求,所选用的荧光增白剂还应具备以下性质:
  First, the properties of fluorescent whitening agent for plastics. Fluorescent whitening agent is a kind of fluorescent dye. Some data call it a white dye or a colorless dye. Others call it a special pigments for plastics colouring according to the fact that fluorescent whitening agent is mainly used to change the appearance characteristics of plastics. There are two main types of fluorescent whitening agents on the market: one is similar to common water-soluble dyes, which are widely used in textiles; the other is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents. This kind of fluorescent whitening agent is suitable for plastics. However, in order to whiten plastics, fluorescent whitening agents should have the following properties according to their properties, processing characteristics and special requirements in use.
  (1)增白效果要好。白度高是荧光增白剂增白效果的主要体现,白度高的优点不仅体现在塑料的外观上,而且还会产生很多有利之处,如白度高可减少使用量,从而可防止塑料强度的变化,又可降低成本。

  (2)高温稳定性优良。因为塑料制品的塑化成型的熔融温度一般需要在150~280℃的高温,所以要求所用的荧光增白剂在此温度范围内不会分解、变色而失去增白效果。

  (3)具有较高的升华牢度和日晒等耐气候牢度。因为近年来在建材及广告行业大量使用白色塑料,这就要求所使用的荧光增白剂具有优良的耐热升华和耐日光暴晒等气候条件的性能。荧光增白剂的耐气候牢度受荧光增白剂结构的影响,并同荧光增白剂的添加量有关。
  (3) It has high sublimation fastness and weather fastness such as sunshine. In recent years, white plastics have been widely used in building materials and advertising industry, which requires that the fluorescent whitening agent used has excellent properties of heat sublimation and sunshine resistance. The climate fastness of fluorescent whitening agent is influenced by the structure of fluorescent whitening agent and is related to the amount of fluorescent whitening agent added.
  (4)与塑料有好的相容性,在其中有良好的分散性。这是保证塑料被均匀增白的必要条件。荧光增白剂的分子分散性或完全溶解性,对于达到高效率光学增白是极为重要的。如用荧光增白剂染白色制品,先将荧光增白剂放入树脂载体作成浓缩物,这种浓缩物通常称为色母料或母料,再用母料着色大量聚合物,其分散性以及光学效果均比树脂内直接加入荧光增白剂要好得多。又如浓度很低的水不溶性荧光增白剂用水分散后,它们在锦纶和聚酯纤维中会显示出良好的光学效果;而把这种荧光增白剂直接加在准备抽丝的聚合物熔融体内,则显示不出任何光学效果。这是因为用水分散进行吸收,是将荧光增白剂以分子的形式溶解在聚合物母体中,而混入聚合物熔融体内的荧光增白剂,最多也只能是以聚集体的形式分散在该熔融体内。对于在塑料中分散性比较差的荧光增白剂等着色剂,为了更好地分散,一般要把它进行二次加工,即在着色剂中加入一定量的处理剂或分散剂,使之成为具有良好分散性能的着色剂。处理或分散助剂的选择除了要提高荧光增白剂的分散性以外,还要注意不致引起塑料物理性能的下降。
  (4) It has good compatibility with plastics and good dispersion. This is a necessary condition to ensure that plastics are evenly whitened. Molecular dispersion or complete solubility of fluorescent whitening agent is very important for achieving high efficiency optical whitening. If the white products are dyed with fluorescent whitening agent, the fluorescent whitening agent is first put into the resin carrier as a concentrate. This concentrate is usually called color masterbatch or masterbatch, and then a large number of polymers are dyed with masterbatch. Its dispersion and optical effect are much better than that of adding fluorescent whitening agent directly into the resin. If the water-insoluble fluorescent whitening agent with very low concentration is dispersed in water, they will show good optical effect in nylon and polyester fibers; but if the fluorescent whitening agent is directly added to the melt of the polymer prepared for filament drawing, it will not show any optical effect. This is because water dispersion for absorption is to dissolve the fluorescent whitening agent in the form of molecule in the polymer matrix, while the fluorescent whitening agent mixed in the polymer melt can only be dispersed in the form of aggregates at most. For the fluorescent whitening agent with poor dispersibility in plastics, in order to disperse better, it should be processed twice, that is, adding a certain amount of additives or dispersants in the coloring agent to make it a good dispersing agent. In addition to improving the dispersion of fluorescent whitening agent, attention should also be paid to the selection of treatment or dispersing additives so as not to cause the decline of physical properties of plastics.

  (5)耐溶剂性、耐迁移性和化学稳定性要好,无渗出和萃取性。与溶剂或含有增塑剂的制品接触时,不会因溶出而迁移。有良好的耐酸、碱性,与塑料中的其他助剂不发生有害的化学反应。
  (5) Good solvent resistance, migration resistance and chemical stability, no exudation and extraction. Contact with solvents or products containing plasticizers does not migrate due to dissolution. It has good acid and alkaline resistance and does not react harmfully with other additives in plastics.
  (6)对塑料的加工(如流动性、润滑性、印刷性、涂饰性)和使用性能(如电性能、物理力学性能、耐老化性能等)无影响。
  (6) It has no effect on the processing (such as fluidity, lubricity, printability, finishing) and application (such as electrical properties, physical and mechanical properties, aging resistance, etc.) of plastics.
  (7)应具有耐化学药品性、电绝缘性等。

  (8)应无毒性、无味。这项要求对用于食品业、玩具业的荧光增白剂显得尤为重要,它关系到人们的身体健康和生命安全。在有些国家,对用于食品及玩具行业的荧光增白剂有着严格的规定。

This requirement is particularly important for fluorescent whitening agents used in food industry and toy industry, which is related to people's health and life safety.   以上几点是对塑料用荧光增白剂比较全面的要求,一般具备所有这些要求的品种极少,所以在使用时,应根据使用的目的、环境因素等具体情况来选择。
